A Message from the Headteacher
I started as Headteacher at Beckwithshaw Community Primary School in September 2005. This is my first Headship following successful completion of the National Professional Qualification for Headship. I was previously Deputy Head at Oatlands Infant school in Harrogate for 6 years.

Being a teaching head allows me to combine the joy of the class teaching with the role of shaping and developing the whole school, thus contributing to the life of every child within our school.

All the staff at Beckwithshaw have the children's happiness and well being at the centre of all they do. We look at each child as an individual and work with them to enable them to reach their potential in every area of school life and beyond. Our aim is to create a love of learning in every child.

Beckwithshaw school is at the heart of the local community and I am always on the lookout for the opportunities for the school to build closer links with the village. I am particularly keen to involve people within the community in the daily life of the school.

Attaining good results at the end of KS1 and KS2 in the National Tests is of course an important measure of our success in educating your children. Our aim is to enable every child in our school to achieve their full academic potential. However, this is only part of the picture; we feel it is equally important to help your children develop as fully rounded human beings. This is indeed one of the reasons why we feel that strong relations with parents and with the local community are essential to a successful school.
