Welcome to Beckwithshaw Community Primary School

Mrs RiceI understand that choosing the right school for your child is a decision which cannot be underestimated, and I would just like to provide you with some information which will hopefully help you in making this very important choice

I have been in post now since 2005, during which time there have been many changes and improvements to the school.  In 2008 we extended the learning environment when our mezzanine floor project was completed.  This gave us additional teaching space as well as the use of a multi functional hall.  The playground has seen improvements too, with the addition of a traversing wall, giant sandpit and a willow tunnel.

We are organised in three mixed age classes which allows for flexibility within the organisation of teaching and learning.  We offer a wide and varied curriculum, as well as many extra curricular activities in music and a variety of sports. We also run a range of after school clubs across the year including such things as Art, Dance and Drama.  Parents and the local community are very supportive of the school and we have an active PTA which enables you to become more fully involved in school life.

Our aim is to ensure each child maximises their own individual academic potential in a happy caring and supportive environment.  Just as important, we seek to develop children who are confident, hard working and have respect for others.  Our visitors always comment on how polite and confident our children are.  You will see from the developments that our school is progressive and we are very proud of our children, their achievements and our academic standards.

Hopefully the website will give you a flavour of our school.  However, I would strongly urge you to visit us and see the school in action, and enable me to answer any questions which you may have.

I look forward to meeting you.

Kind Regards

Caroline Rice
